ALL BILLS ARE DUE ON THE 2OTH OF THE MONTH.

No final notice will be sent. Failure to receive bill does not relieve customer of payment and penalty.

To maintain a good credit rating, you should pay your bill before disconnection. If the bill remains unpaid 10 days after the gross amount due date, service will be discontinued without any further notice. An applicable re-connection fee must be paid before service is restored. We do not like to shut off service to our customers, but if your account remains unpaid, we will have no other alternative.

Payment arrangements can be made in the office before the disconnection date.

Your water will be disconnected if you fail to pay your bill. If you want your water disconnected for any other reason, please contact M.C.B.P.U. by phone or in person during normal business hours. Or download a copy of the Application to Disconnect Water Service, complete, and return to our office.

Once service has been disconnected due to non-payment, the full balance (plus any service charges) must be paid before service can be reinstated. (i.e. a $75.00 reconnect fee if paid by 2:00 p.m.) The full balance must be paid before service can be reinstated. Reconnections will only be done during business hours.

If you have a balance forward (BF) on your bill, this is due immediately to avoid your water service being disconnected. The current part of your bill is due on the 20th.

Water Department Procedures for Taps:

  1. At the time of sign up for water service by the Customer. MCBPU will require the Customer to provide a Property Tax Card and Tax Map to insure they are eligible for water service as provided in the Rules and Regulations.
  2. Once the Customer has met the eligibility requirements for water service, they will be required to pay all necessary fees, and complete a Water Service Contract.
  3. Once the Customer has completed all the necessary steps to sign up for water service, MCBPU will provide the Customer with a blue stake with their name on one side and a Service Order number on the other side. The Customer will place this stake on their property line in a location that is mutually agreeable to both the Customer and MCBPU.
  4. When MCBPU installs the water tap on the Customer’s property line, the water tap will be locked out until the following items have been installed on the Customers side of the water tap and an inspection performed by MCBPU personnel: 1.) Cut-off device. 2.) Pressure regulator device. 3.) Service Line Requirements
  5. The Customer shall be responsible for and bear the expense of installing and maintaining the above piping from the water tap to the Customer’s residence/business.
  6. In addition to inspecting the above items, MCBPU personnel will inspect the Customers plumbing arrangements for any cross-connection problems/violations. This inspection will be based upon the Cross-Connection Control Survey completed previously by the Customer and Customer Type as noted in the Customer’s Water Service Contract. Any cross-connection violation will require proper backflow prevention by the Customer.
  7. Once the above items have been inspected and approved by MCBPU personnel, water service will be turned on to the Customer. The cut-off device inside the water tap is the property of the MCBPU. Only MCBPU personnel are authorized to operate this cut-off, or anything located inside the meter box.
  8. No service call fee will be charged for the initial turn on/inspection; however, a service call fee will be charged for any subsequent requests for turn on/offs not to include termination of water service.
  9. The MCBPU will begin charging the Customer for water service on the date the water tap is installed by the MCBPU. The MCBPU will charge at least a minimum bill per month per customer for the water service regardless of the amount of water used. (See MCBPU Rules and Regulations)

  • Your water service will be disconnected unless the past due balance is paid before the expiration date shown on the final notice.
  • If you receive your next monthly bill before paying your prior bill, you DO NOT have an extension of time to pay your prior bill before being disconnected.

At your request, prior to receiving your final notice, MCBPU will notify someone you have chosen of your past due bill. This service can help prevent disconnection by alerting a designated third party to a possible problem. The third party is not responsible for paying your bill. If you would like more information on third party notification, please call MCBPU.

Please notify MCBPU as soon as possible. MCBPU will delay disconnection of water service for 30 days if a physician, public health officer, or social service officer certifies in writing that discontinuing water service will worsen an existing medical emergency for you or another permanent resident of the premises where services are rendered. Please call MCBPU for full information. A prompt request is important. During the 30-day extension, payment of the bill must be guaranteed.

If water service is disconnected for nonpayment, here is how to have service restored:

  • Pay the total amount due.
  • Pay a reconnection charge. ($75.00)
